Mourn Not Benji

I only met Benji after his passing.  A little terrier mix cared for by his human companions who run a small animal rescue organization.  He had escaped the yard via an open gate and was hit by a car.  He passed. This session we were in was a year after his deatoh and I was using animal mediumship to check in with another family pet that had just passed of old age.  Suddenly I was seeing what looked like Benji, jumping up in front of me in my mind’s eye.  He had something to say.  Benji’s message was, “mourn not”.  One of his humans ran from the room crying.  Her partner shared that she had been holding grief and self blame from accidentally leaving the gate open.   Benji shared that he wanted them to remember HIM, not his passing, and remember the life they shared that held many happy memories. I asked Benji if he had a memory to share.  He showed me a “special” trick where she would make a movement with her hand and then Benji would sit down.  I wondered about why the trick of sitting down was special, but that’s how it came to me.  And then after he sat, Benji would receive a little round green pea as a treat.  She said she knew exactly what Benji was referring to.  She had taught him to sit using sign language!  Her one reward for her dogs? Green peas!  This is a great example of why evidential messages are so valuable. The message we don’t know like, “mourn not, remember me for how I lived” is grounded by a memory being shared that only they knew.  It helped them lay their grief to rest and to release the guilt and begin to remember Benji with joy for the time they shared.  They said it changed their lives.
